A series of paintings/writings/sculptures around ideas of space/inside/outside/folding/enfolding, on/within the surface, whorls/marks/fingerprints/motifs. Using colour and materials to activate a sensuous response, these fabricated constructs create new spaces to explore. #foldswhorlssurfacesspaces #sensuouspractice

Thinking about the earth, the speed of change slow in the history of the planet and yet quickly in the history of humans. Tessellations, of gushing water, of folding time – space collapsing and compressing; expanding and extending; mythologies to explain geological processes, and the pulse and rhythm of the earth being disrupted enough to rise up and ROAR. Please listen.

Title is from a poem by Lemn Sissay called Different Drums (circa 1988)
“Don’t be misled / By the slow / Rhythms / The depths and fathoms / The measure of sound / Keep your ears to the ground
Listen to the earth speak / Whisper, tremor, trickle and leak / Gush, flow, splatter and seep / To awake you from your sleep / Your misleading / Breathing / Quoted you alive
But different drums know different / How long can you hide from the truth / Don’t be misled / By the dead slow / Rhythms of time
