PERDURANCE series, where works explore and express my interpretation of the concept of perdurance - individuals are composed of temporal parts and these are constantly changing dependant on time and the relationships with others. These works are made in response to corporeal encounters running/walking/dwelling and processes of creating, testing, making and documenting as a sensing being. Repetition, pattern, and gesture are prominent. In perdurance my form, my thoughts, my spirit is not fixed: Mmiri Mmiri / I am fluid.
Running log 6.2.15; 11:09; 3C sunny; 162 minutes.
Space, time, boundlessness; Wind ripping the breath as the day reveals itself. Sun hazy lemon: cool, barely warming yet inviting to engage, to celebrate - I am alive for one more day.
Repetition and rhythm, my feet hitting the ground over and over, my breathing ragged, coming apart and then synchronizing; senses being freed up, letting go…
Poem:
I feel the ground under my feet and I know that I’m alive
I feel the wind through my lungs, draw breath and I know that I’m alive
I feel the rivulets of sweat on my body and I know that I’m alive
I feel, I feel
I FEEL
