PERDURANCE series, where works explore and express my interpretation of the concept of perdurance - individuals are composed of temporal parts and these are constantly changing dependant on time and the relationships with others. These works are made in response to corporeal encounters running/walking/dwelling and processes of creating, testing, making and documenting as a sensing being. Repetition, pattern, and gesture are prominent. In perdurance my form, my thoughts, my spirit is not fixed: Mmiri Mmiri / I am fluid.

SHAPING THE HABITS OF MY BODY running for hours and hours. Feeling free and at peace; encountering the world/myself. encouraged by a positive refrain, a curiosity about the spaces I inhabit, the singularities and multiplicities; the potential for change, for becoming; moving in and out, over and under; repetition, transduction, rhythms emerging.

From my running log SHAPING THE HABITS OF MY BODY:

9.5.16; 08:31; 260 min; In Search of The Corryvreckan. Fucking Awesome …. Head fuck for the first 4 miles feeling decidedly fat and slow. Gradually the surroundings seeped beneath my skin releasing me from my screaming mind; lungs and senses opening, the clag from my nasal passages was cleared, my breathing settled, my smile appeared, and I began to run with joy. Cuckoos, cotton grass, heather, bracken unfurling; mud, gravel, twisting and turning, ever upward and onward towards space; clean air, big sky, big sea; weaving in, out, through and over; I began to hear you, feel your force, I couldn’t see you clearly though I looked all around; I saw my shadow on the ground in the height of the day, I merged in and out of the land with every step, turn, wave of my arm – I was captured, my skin no longer my own.
